Welcome to the Portland Correspondence Cooperative

We are a group of snail mail and mail art enthusiasts who meet monthly to explore our shared love of all things snail mail.

Our Meetings

This is what we do during our monthly meetings:

Artist Stamp Passports

The PDXCC Artist Stamp Passport is a fun and unique way to exchange postage-sized stamp artworks. Each month, participants design a small, quick piece of art the size of a postage stamp and paste it into the passports of other participants. It can be collage, drawing, rubber stamping, just about anything 2D and small.

Monthly Mail Art Swaps

Love mail art? This is your chance to make art and swap. Each month we pick a theme as a group and then if interested, you can sign up to swap mail with other artists.

Vintage Postage Sales

Twice a year, Bob Beall brings vintage postage to the group for purchase. We also have a selection of vintage postage for purchasing at each meeting.

Special Guests

Every now and then, we are able to have special guests who share their love of snail mail.

Show and Tell

Do you have a cool piece of postal service ephemera, a unique typewriter, a stamp collection, a collection of mail art, or vintage stationery? We are your people! Bring it and share.

Write or Make Correspondence

Need time to catch up with your correspondence? This is that time! We have letter writing supplies, a box of rubber stamps, and postage to spark your creativity.

Join us at PIPEX This Year!

What the heck is PIPEX?

It’s Portland’s big, annual stamp show May 1-3, 2026. You can shop for unused vintage stamps, often at their original prices. You can also buy worldwide stamps for artistic pursuits, such as decorating a box, a journal, a frame or, of course, an envelope. You can view stamp exhibits on interesting topics and learn a lot. PDXCC is honored to be a convening society at PIPEX 2026. We will have a booth, and it will be a hub of craft & creativity. The show is free, the parking is free, the inspiration is free. Join the philatelic frolic!

What’s happening at the PDXCC booth?

True to our motto–Meet, Make, Mail!—you can make mail (arty, crafty, quickie, otherly) on the spot, in creative camaraderie. We will provide a dazzling assortment of supplies, thanks to Uptown Stamp Show and West Coast Paper. Pick up expert tips on addressing and franking to take best advantage of the show’s two official pictorial cancellations, both designed by people you actually know. You can also purchase raffle tickets for swaggalicious mail-making loot.

Bring your PDXCC passport and an artistamp to trade!

What’s special on Saturday?

At 2:00 Alyson Kuhn will present “Frankly, my dears,” about the postal possibilities for putting stamps on envelopes and elsewhere, illustrated with many cherished examples. Stamps can send a message before you have even written a word. Let us count the creative ways.

At 3:00 Laura Glazer will present “Fine Otherwise,” showcasing early twentieth-century postcards of Portland’s Central Library with their handwritten messages. See & hear how her exhibit in a working post office delighted postal patrons & clerks alike.
